The golf course
despite the extreme dry weather conditions the greens were in an excellent condition.
3 x 9 holes offers sufficient variety
the flights / reservation was excellent; the times were correct and there was little or no hold-ups on the course.

The covered driving range could be slightly bigger
A delightful (and up to now) quiet course. Especially the fact that you yourself are able to decide when you start is quite unique. If it’s inconvenient, you just shift the time yourself (pencil and rubber!). Good course and thanks to the 3 x 9 holes there is sufficient variety for a week of golf. Superbly relaxed in magnificent surroundings!

The accommodation
The price and quality ratio of the bungalows when occupied by four people is excellent. It’s rather expensive for only two people.
Because of our villa’s location on the entrance road to the park, the waste collection point, the actual collection and smell of the waste, and the work being carried out on other villas, it was very noisy. It would also be nice to have a paved patio.
As we said earlier: the accommodation (villa and courses and upkeep of the accommodation) was beyond all expectations.
The kitchen in this villa is very small.
We were (yet again) very pleased with our accommodation. Up to now we find the price reasonable. The surcharge for the private swimming pool we felt was rather high.
Nuisance from flies. Will you please fit insect screens in the windows.
The garden (hedges) were not yet fully grown. Otherwise it was great.
When we arrived we were told that the television was defect and that a serviceman would come to fix it. He did come the same day. However, we only had three Dutch channels for one day and nothing more for the rest of the week. When checking out we informed the reception staff so that they could send a serviceman again for the next occupants. It was not so much of an issue for us because we had come to play golf and not watch TV. Nevertheless, that’s the reason why we only gave a ‘moderate’ for maintenance. For the rest, the villa was well maintained!!
The villas and furnishings are very nice and comfortable. That’s why we are regular guests. The cleaning could have been better this time though.

Catering
Service is not always friendly and the menu is not all that special.
Excellent facilities, and the hospitality was still very good even though it was nearing the end of the high season. Very congenial!!
The flys were a big nuisance on the terrace.
The quality of the food is very good. The staff are extremely friendly. The terrace could have a better atmosphere, but it is also satisfactory as it is.
The menu is too limited
Very friendly members of staff serving at table and a very helpful Swedish lady!
Simple, but good food.
The caterer is extremely punctual; a breakfast service / coffee for early starters would be more than welcome. Given the few good restaurants in the area, as a guest you have to more or less be able to count on a seat in the clubhouse, and they are not always available.
While the menu is not all that wide-ranging, the food I tried tasted excellent.

Arrival/reception
When we got there the route directions went no further than the castle. It would have been better if it had continued right up to the golf course given that it was there that we had to check in.
If possible I would separate the shop from reception so that you do not have to wait while someone is being served in the shop while you only need to ask something about your accommodation or start times.
The atmosphere in particular was very pleasant and all members of staff were very helpful, our thanks. The ladies in reception were excellent in all respects!!!!
The image of the pro shop and the range on sale there is outdated; this does not, however, spoil your holiday.
The pro shop is somewhat untidy, probably because of the (too) small available space, the golf pro’s desk and the ‘villas for sale info corner’.
You can buy exactly the right shoes and gloves in the shop; so in actual fact it’s tip-top.

Miscellaneous
No Internet connection in the house, only in the clubhouse. Like me, other people had also brought their laptops with them but were unable to use them the whole week.
The mornings start with a drive into the nearby village to buy bread; either that or getting up early to go to the bakery van which parks somewhere near the clubhouse for fifteen minutes.
We arrived a couple of hours earlier than agreed but the staff came into action immediately to see whether the villa was ready for us to move in. After a delicious lunch we were able to move in. First class.
Relatively little to do in the area.
We had a fantastic stay at Chateau des Forges. The opportunities to play golf are truly excellent. What we found particularly pleasant was that in quiet periods we were able to play together with our children of 6 and 8 who had just obtained their GVB (golf proficiency certificate). We will therefore probably be back again for a week next year.
The swimming pool could be larger
You’re here purely for relaxation (very peaceful surroundings) and to play golf. The wider surroundings do present numerous options for a day out though.
What we like about Les Forges is that you can take your dog along with you on the course. We would appreciate being closer to the golf course next time. It would be nice to be able to choose from a map.
